WEET-BIX ‘iDombolo / Steamed bread

  • 2 Cups self-raising flour
  • 2 WEET-BIX biscuits
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Cup water
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon oil
  • Pinch of salt


  1. Sift the flour into a large bowl.
  2. Add crushed WEET-BIX as well as the rest of the dry ingredients.
  3. Add the eggs, oil and mix well.
  4. Make a well in the centre of your mixture and add the water. Mix until a dough is formed.
  5. Spoon the dough into ramekins of your choice (a mug works well) or a muffin tray.
  6. Steam for 30 minutes.
  7. Once steamed, remove from the pot and allow the ramekins to cool completely.

Remove the bread from the ramekins. Slice and serve with your choice of stew.
